Mass Eid Prayers at JIS, Residents are Urged to Comply with Covid-19 Health Protocols

The Jakarta Government will hold Bedug Takbiran Night Festival and Mass Eid Prayers 1443 Hijri at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta. People who want to take a part in the events are encouraged to comply with Covid-19 health protocols.

JIS is more than just a sports stadium

Jakarta Secretary Marullah Matali said the events were carried out according to the directions of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to present a public or third space at JIS. Besides, Mass Eid Prayers at JIS were also requested by Jakartans.

"JIS is more than just a sports stadium. JIS can be used to support religious activities, such as performing Eid prayers. Moreover, the floor pattern forms a prayer line and faces the Qibla. In supporting cultural activities, JIS can be used to organize takbiran night events in form of bedug (drum) performances. The community can interact with each other in any activities at JIS as a third space," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release, Thursday (4/28).

He expected people to take care of the JIS environment since it was a green building. People were also advised not to bring single-use food/beverage packaging and newspaper as a prayer mat. Instead, please bring your tumbler, eco-friendly slipper/shoe bag, and prayer mat when attending Mass Eid Prayer at JIS.

For information, the Bedug Takbiran Night Festival participants came from 5 administrative cities in Jakarta. The events would take place on the west ramp and south concourse. The management had also prepared an indoor area as an alternative in case of rain. People were advised not to walk around JIS and went home immediately after the event to reduce crowds.

Various infrastructures to support Mass Eid Prayers at JIS had also been prepared, such as ablution areas, parking lots, and toilets. Even though a place for ablution was provided, it was recommended to perform ablution from home to prevent long queues thus Eid prayer could start on time.

"People are expected to bring personal worship equipment, attend the Eid prayers and sermons solemnly, and not gather after the prayer. Let's always comply with health protocols during #LebaranDiJakarta activities. Hopefully, Eid celebrations in Jakarta can run safely and comfortably," he stated.

Due to limited parking spaces, people were appealed to use public transportation to JIS. The following are public transportation with routes to JIS:

1. Transjakarta JIS 014 (Senen - JIS)

2. Transjakarta JIS 003 (Harmoni - JIS)

3. Non-BRT 10K (Tanjung Priok – Senen via BMW Park)

4. JAK 77 (Tanjung Priok – Jembatan Hitam)
