Mass Transport is Our Task, Ahok Says

The city government will hold the trial of motorcycle ban regulation on Wednesday (12/17) tomorrow. Although lack of parking space,  the government admitted has no  responsible in providing it because the government task is to provide a comfortable mass transportation for citizens.

We have no obligation to provide parking for your motorcycle. We only provide a better mass transportation

"We have no obligation to provide parking for your motorcycle. We only provide a better mass transportation. We have provided the double decker bus at the area," said Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) at City Hall, Monday (12/15).

He admitted, the comfort in riding motorcycle cannot be defeated by any mass transportation. Because, the rider can avoid traffic congestion and park their motorcycle anywhere.

PT Transjakarta to Manage Double-decker Buses

"We can see the illegal parking behind Grand Indonesia. Is the parking full there? Yes. Although it is illegal, we do not curb it because our parking lot at Monas (Monumen Nasional) is not ready. Park your motorcycle there and continue with mass transport," he said.

He added that the delivery man may use the back lane which is free from this policy. If the parking lot at Monas is capable, the ban route will be expanded.

Regarding the free double decker bus, Basuki explained, it is a form of kindness from city government.

"Some countries which apply this policy did not provide free transport for their citizens," Basuki said.

At this moment, city government has operated five City Tour buses from Bundaran HI-Juanda. It is not included five buses granted from Tahir Foundation. The buses are operated for Bundaran HI-Harmoni. Many companies will also join to give double decker buses to city government.
