Launching Digital Nomad di Pecanangan Jakarta Hajatan Ke 495

Parekraf: Digital Nomad Lifestyle Revives Seribu Islands Tourism

The launch of Digital Nomad Island (DNI) at Jakarta's 495th Anniversary event with branding 'Jakarta Hajatan' on Bidadari Island, last Tuesday (5/24), became a milestone in the revival of Seribu Islands tourism.

Digital Nomad Island will be very useful to be implemented in Seribu Islands

Digital Nomad Island is in line with the development of today's lifestyle adaptation that applies the concept of working from anywhere or Work From Anywhere (WFA). With this WFA concept, working while traveling is no longer an impossible thing to do.

With a variety of attractive tourism potential, the 113 islands spread across Seribu Islands can be a reference for Digital Nomads, such as Bali or Madeira and Canary islands in Portugal, as well as the Maldives. Moreover, Jakarta has great potential to develop a digital ecosystem.

Working from Anywhere Trend Prompts Jakarta to Develop Digital Nomad Island in Thousand Islands

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Agency Head Andhika Permata revealed that Bidadari Island was the location for the pilot project of the Digital Nomad Island concept. It would later be developed on other islands in Seribu Islands.

To support tourism activities, sea transportation routes to and from Seribu Islands would be added with a clear schedule and more affordable prices, including improving internet connectivity on public islands.

Aside that, Seribu Islands Regent Junaedi expressed his pride that Bidadari Island was used as the location for Jakarta's anniversary and Digital Nomad Island pilot project.

"Digital Nomad Island will be very useful to be implemented in Seribu Islands," he expressed.

He hoped that the launch of Digital Nomad could be a real action to be applied to residents in Jakarta so they can work while on vacation.

"Together with Parekraf Sub-agency, we are about to urge regional working units (SKPDs) to work while traveling," he added.

The hope for the revival of Seribu Islands tourism also came out from a representative of Seadoo Club Indonesia (SCI), the largest jet ski community in Indonesia Romy Winata. He uttered the Seribu Islands have great potential from the sea, beaches to facilities.

"People need to know that the atmosphere of the sea and beaches in Seribu Islands is not inferior to that in the Maldives," he said.

He added that the launch of Digital Nomad could improve tourist destinations. By maximizing the facilities, there would be many people who come to work while traveling.

"Hope Jakarta's anniversary can stimulate the tourism of the Seribu Islands. Thus, the MSME economy can also increase well," he concluded.
