Jakarta Prepares Various Events to Celebrate its 495th Anniversary

Jakarta is gearing up to celebrate its 495th anniversary in a series of events entitled “Jakarta Hajatan”. It is slated to be held from May 24 to June 25, 2022, and carries the theme "Collaborate, Accelerate, and Elevate".

To realize the vision of elevating residents, and cities at the global level (Elevation)

City Secretary Marullah Matali said that the theme of Collaborate, Accelerate, and Elevate was taken as a message of optimism and evidence for all elements in the city, as well as the world for the various businesses that have been, are being, and will continue to be conducted by Jakarta in the future. At the same time reflecting on the spirit of collaboration that has been echoed for the past 5 years.

"This is done on the basis of the spirit of collaboration as the Jakarta's identity (Collaboration), the spirit of encouraging growth to face various global issues (Acceleration) to realize the vision of elevating residents, and cities at the global level (Elevation)," he stated, on the sidelines of the Media Briefing "The Declaration of the Jakarta's 495th Anniversary", Monday (5/23), at the Balairung, Jakarta City Hall, as quoted from Jakarta's PPID Press Release.

Jakarta E-Prix 2022 Gears Up to Enliven Jakarta's 495th Anniversary

He explained that "Jakarta Hajatan" was present as a new brand for Jakarta's anniversary in 2022. This branding will be sustainable from year to year at every Jakarta anniversary celebration. 'Hajatan' means a thick celebration with Indonesian nuances, namely a reception or celebration of an achievement. The whole series of events of Jakarta's 495th Anniversary would involve various levels of society as collaborators as well as foreign guests.

It will be opened with the "Jakarta's 495th Anniversary (Opening Ceremony: Jakarta's 495th Anniversary Celebration & Digital Nomad Island Launching)" on Bidadari Island, Seribu Islands tomorrow.

The ceremony would be filled with discussions on Jakarta's 495th Anniversary Celebration and Digital Nomad Island with world public figures. It would be attended by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan; regional directors for East, Southeast Asia, and Oceania C40 Cities; representatives from the Ministry of Tourism of the Maldives; Aqsa Sutan Anwar as an activist in the tourism industry; and Ashari Yuda Pratama Putra (@catatanbackpacker) as Digital Nomad in Indonesia.

The public can watch the opening event via CNNTV, as well as the Jakarta administration's YouTube live broadcast tomorrow at 8 AM.

Various events would enliven it, starting from Jakarta Weekend Walking, Cycling and Running Tour, Jakarta International Java Jazz, Pilgrimage Ceremony of the Heroes Cemetery, Commemoration Ceremony for Jakarta's 495th Anniversary, +Jakarta Concert at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Regional Collaboration Week, Formula E, +Jakarta Awards & Reception Night, as well as other performances and celebrations, such as the activation of regional murals, installations, musical performances, exhibitions, to routine events, namely the DPRD Plenary Session and Ceremony.

Then it would be closed with a Closing Ceremony in conjunction with the Grand Launching of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on June 25, 2022.
