The Jakarta Government's super-priority activity to build and rehabilitate nine polders, four reservoirs, and two rivers (942 Program) is still ongoing.
The work in each location is still ongoing with varying progress
The nine polders are located in Muara Angke, Teluk Gong, Mangga Dua, Kelapa Gading, Pulomas, Marunda JGC, Green Garden, Kamal, and Tipala Pump - Adhyaksa Pump.
Meanwhile, four reservoirs are located in Pondok Ranggon Reservoir, Wirajasa Retention Basin, Brigief Reservoir, and Lebak Bulus Reservoir.
Here is the Progress of 942 Flood Management ProgramsThen, two rivers are located in the Maritime Museum Canal Crossing Channel (Sodetan) of Kali Besar River and Ciliwung River downstream in the Pasar Baru area.
Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency Secretary Dudi Gardesi Asikin conveyed the Government had allocated Rp 1 trillion for the multi-year infrastructure program (2021-2022) from central government loan funds through the 2021 National Economic Recovery (PEN) program.
The 942 program was one of Jakarta's important efforts to handle and overcome inundation and flooding in five areas of Jakarta.
"The work in each location is still ongoing with varying progress," he said, Friday (5/27).
The polder, he explained, is an area drainage system equipped with infrastructure in form of pumps, sluice gates, and long storage to accommodate rainwater from the area. Technically, the polder will divide water flow into several rivers to minimize flooding in an area.
"Through polder system, water discharge from an area will be accommodated and channeled to rivers which are controlled through sluice gates and water pumps," he mentioned.
According to him, the polder catchment area in each location varied between 100-700 hectares. Likewise, the scope of polder work, such as new pumps, sluice gates, parapet, and sheet piles, increased pump capacity, garbage filters, rotary screen, and hoist crane.
"Polder will be equipped with supporting infrastructure according to the needs, existing conditions, and location characteristics," he added.
According to him, reservoir construction is targeted to reduce flood discharge in the river flow system. It was also designed with the concept of 'green and blue' and used as a public space to preserve local wisdom.
"River capacity is also improved to increase capacity for water discharge, control regional flooding, and arrange riverbanks," he stated.
