SDA Has Built 7 SWRO Plants in Thousand IslandsThen in 2018, the Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) irrigation system was made from brackish water, yet it did not meet drinking water standards.
"We are grateful and don't need to use groundwater anymore. If excessive use of groundwater can result in seawater intrusion and land subsidence," he explained, Monday (6/6).
He hoped that 90 more residents' houses could immediately be connected to the IPA SWRO system to enjoy clean water from pipes for washing, bathing, or drinking.
"Thus, there will be no more residents using groundwater," he added.
Seribu Islands SDA Sub-agency Head Hendri explained that the construction of the IPA SWRO on Sabira Island has 1.5 liters per second capacity. According to him, IPA with SWRO technology is a water treatment plant that can process seawater into clean drinking water.
"This system utilizes a special membrane that can filter the salt content in seawater," he stated.
