Economic and Ecological Interests Must Be in Harmony, Governor Says

To actualize Gubernatorial Regulation number 102/2021 on Waste Management in Regions and Companies, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan launched a program to implement independent waste management for Industry or Companies, at ITC Cempaka Mas, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (6/23).

He disclosed the waste problem in Jakarta is a responsibility that must be tackled together. That is by involving the government, individuals, community, entrepreneurs, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and various other stakeholders.
It would be done in stage to make Jakarta a City Area, where economic activity becomes the center of activity in line with ecological interests.

By so, our hope for waste reduction and management in Jakarta can be achieved on the target. Therefore, with the launch of this implementation, we can create a new paradigm in waste management," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.
Then he also prompted all elements of society to collaborate, thus new ways of managing waste in their respective areas could be done independently. It was also assessed to create sustainable waste management. Thereby, the active role of stakeholders, the community, the government, and the private sector could create an economic ecosystem that pays attention to the cleanliness of the environment.
"Hope it can smoothen the implementation of waste management in the area and companies following the mandate of Bylaw number 4/2019 and Gubernatorial Regulation number 102/2021. Thus, the residue produced from each area can be used, described for raw material purposes and others, this is what is called ideally waste management in an economic area that is in line with ecology," he added.
As for the information, the launch of waste management in areas and companies in 2022 is held as a series of events for Jakarta's 495th Anniversary which aims to socialize examples for the region and other companies in carrying out their waste management obligations.
It is because the waste disposed of at the Bantargebang TPST currently reaches 7,500 – 7,800 tons per day. Meanwhile, waste management requires large resources, so it needs to be minimized by reducing the amount of waste that enters the Bantargebang.
Besides the Governor. the launch was attended by Environment and Forestry Ministry spokesman Novrizal Tahar; Jakarta Environment Agency Head Asep Kuswanto; Central Jakarta Mayor Dhany Sukma and his rank; as well as representatives of ITC Group and PT Mitra Karunia Indah.
