WCD 2022, Movement for Sorting Residents' Garbage from Homes Intensified in Jakarta

The 2022 World Clean Up Day (WCD) has been held simultaneously in five areas of Jakarta. It was realized in collaboration between the Jakarta administration with the Lions Club and all other stakeholders in order to reduce waste.

He explained that based on the results of waste sorting, WCD activities from the previous year continued to increase. In 2019, as many as 2.4 tons of garbage were successfully transported, 25.5 tons of garbage were in 2020, and 73 tons of garbage were in 2021.
"We're targeting more than 100 tons of waste collected from sorting in 2022," he explained.
He went on to say that WCD in Jakarta also created a new Indonesian Original Record (ORI) with the Movement for Sorting Garbage from Home. With the most participants, more than 190,000 participants from five areas in Jakarta.
"This activity has started three months earlier by conducting socialization, education on domestic waste management both online and offline by involving more stakeholders, and achieving the results of sorting the collected waste," he continued.
Central Jakarta Spatial Planning and Environment Division Head, Martua Sitorus stated his party welcomes and supports WCD activities and appreciates the Lions Club and those who have supported it following the Governor's Regulation No. 77/2020 on Waste Management Scope of Community Pillars.
It went smoothly in collaboration with the Lions Club district with various cross-sectoral parties from the Jakarta administration, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical, PT Tirta Fresindo Jaya (Le Minerale), Indonesian Plastic Recycling Association, Platicpay, Nusantara Trash School Foundation, Mountrash Avatar Indonesia, and Jakarta PPI (Indonesian Women Leaders).
Circular Economy Sr. Specialist for PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk, Nicko Setyabudi revealed that his party fully supports the WCD 2022 activity which carries the theme "Pilah Sampah dari Rumah".
His party also supports the government's program in achieving the waste management target of 70 percent and reducing waste by 30 percent by 2025.
"This target needs to be achieved in collaboration with all stakeholders," he closed.
