Commission D Supports Development of Tourist Destinations

Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD)'s Commission D Member, Hasan Basri Umar supports the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) in developing tourist destinations in Jakarta.

According to him, the Jakarta administration through through the related local government organizations (OPD) have shown their seriousness in developing the tourism and cultural sector. That is by revitalizing the Kota Tua area, developing Seribu Islands facilities, revitalizing Taman Ismail Marzuki and Taman Benyamin Sueb, and so forth.

"I appreciate the administration which has revived the tourism sector, surely it has a positive impact on the community's economy as well," he expressed, Monday (9/19).

Besides encouraging the economic progress of the residents, the development of tourist attractions in Jakarta is also to preserve the historical and cultural heritage.

"Hope the development of tourist destinations can continue to be sustainable," he continued.

Jakarta Disparekraf Head, Andhika Permata explained that the development of tourist destinations in Jakarta is a collaboration between OPD and related stakeholders. Hopefully, it could attract domestic and foreign tourists to visit Jakarta, thus regional income would increase.

"Besides structuring tourist areas, we also regularly hold various activities such as festivals, promotion of public spaces, exhibitions, and others," he continued.

As for the information, Jakarta has 216 tourist destinations which are divided into five categories, namely Heritage is a destination rich in cultural heritage, such as Kota Tua and Taman Benjamin Sueb. Nature is a destination that provides natural tourism, like Seribu Islands.

Then in the Urban category, residents can stop by the Cikini area and the Kemang Art Center. Youth category, for instance Petojo Enclek Creative Market. Lastly, Culinary for instance on Jalan Sabang can be a culinary destination.
