5 Waste Disposal Sites to Be Built in East Jakarta

East Jakarta Cleanliness Sub-Department is slated to build five integrated waste disposal sites (TPS) in five locations in East Jakarta. It is hoped able to reduce trash pile in such areas. 

The five TPSs will apply a reduce, reuse and recycle (3R) system. By doing so, trash volume can be reduced

The five locations are Batu Ampar Urban Village (Kramatjati), Kebon Pala Urban Village (Makasar), Utan Kayu Selatan Urban Village (Matraman), Cipayung Sub-District and Ciracas Sub-District.

"The five TPSs will apply a reduce, reuse and recycle (3R) system. By doing so, trash volume can be reduced," said Head of East Jakarta Health Sub-Department, Marnaik Siahaan, Friday (1/23).

Later on, according to Siahaan, the quota of trash that sent to the Bantargebang Landfill would only leave 70 percent. Because of 30 percent of the trash, such as plastic, paper and metal, will be processed into goods that have economic value. Moreover, East Jakarta can produce trash up to 1100-1200 tons per day.

Of the five TPSs. he added, one of them was planned to be built at Jalan SMP 126, RT 10/03 Batu Ampar Urban Village, with 5,793 square meters wide.
