Jakarta Wins Merit System Award and Code of Ethics from KASN

The meritocratic ecosystem built under the Jakarta administration received appreciation from the State Civil Apparatus Committee (KASN) through two awards, namely the Merit System and the Code of Ethics, which were ceremonially handed over at Great Hall, Thursday (9/29).

We are ready to follow up on recommendations from KASN

“Today is a happy and proud day, as well as homework to improve future performance. We are ready to follow up on recommendations from KASN," he stated, in his speech, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

“We welcome the merit system and code of ethics for our corps' behavior, which in itself works with the meritocratic system. This is easy to write but the challenges are big in execution. Hence, we must maintain it continuously," he added.

He hoped that this award would spur Jakarta ASNs to explore and follow up on recommendations from KASN thus what was achieved this year can be improved again next year.

"Hope with this assessment, Jakarta will immediately explore its recommendations and KASN will be willing to accompany us, as well as once another assessment is held, our numbers will be even higher. Because achieving high numbers is good but continuing to improve is better, as it will have an impact on improvement," he explained.

He went on to say that Jakarta is a regional government but is close to the central government. Thus, it is necessary to send a message that if Jakarta is capable of implementing meritocracy in its bureaucracy, then the government can be relied on to provide the best service.

"Jakarta is a regional government but the climate is central and its ecosystem is the capital city as the center of activities and attention. That's why in Jakarta, ensuring that everything goes according to the rules, means that we give a message to the public that the government can rely on the principle of meritocracy, basic values, codes of ethics, and so on," he asserted.

“If we apply meritocracy in our internal ecosystem, we will continue to be in the meritocratic tradition. It needs time, so we have to start now and on the way, we will need guidance from KASN. That's why it will make us transform for the better," he continued.

As for the information, on the Assessment of the Implementation of the Merit System 2022, the city managed to get a score of 335,5 with the category "Very Good". As for the piloting of the 2021 NKK Implementation Compliance Level Measurement, the city received a score of 228, with an index of 0.76, namely the category "High".
