The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) released the development of five economic indicators in Jakarta in September 2022 online, Monday (10/3).

Jakarta BPS' Distribution Statistics Function Coordinator, Feri Prasetyo Nugroho said that during September 2022 in Jakarta, there was inflation of 1.21 percent (m-to-m) with a calendar year inflation rate of 3.64 percent (y-to-d), and 4.61 percent (y-on-y).

The spike in inflation was an important note in the economic field considering inflation was quite low during the last four years and even caused deflation. The inflation rate until September 2022 was 3.64 percent, higher than the achievement of inflation rate for the same period in 2019 which was 2.51 percent, 2020 was 1.05 percent, and 2021 was 0.59 percent.
"If we compare year-on-year inflation during September 2022, which was recorded at 4.61 percent, much higher than the inflation rate for the same month in 2019 was 3.72 percent, 2020 was 1.76 percent, and 2021 was 1.14 percent," he explained.
Based on the expenditure group, the biggest contributor to inflation in Jakarta was the transportation group, which was 0.95 percent; food, beverage, and tobacco at 0.09 percent; and provision of food and beverages/restaurants by 0.04 percent.
Generally, the cause of rising inflation in September 2022 is the new price policy in the energy sector. Several important commodities that contributed to inflation in September 2022 were gasoline and diesel which became the main drivers of inflation in the transportation category with their respective shares of 0.772 percent and 0.022 percent.
Further, transportation services within the city are 0.079 percent, filter kretek cigarettes are 0.026 percent, air transportation services are 0.025 percent, and household fuel is 0.023 percent.
