Migrasi Siaran Televisi Dari Analog ke Digital

Deadline for Analog TV Switch-Off, Residents Only Need to Have Set-Top Box

The government would soon realize the migration of television broadcasts from analog to digital. This statement was discussed in the Global Radio Talkshow with Data Communication Network Division Head for Jakarta Communications, Informations, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik), Aditia Prana Kusuma and Post and Information Technology (PPI) Directorate General, Geryantika Kurnia on Monday (10/3).

Do not need to buy a new television but you only have a set-top box

The migration program in Greater Jakarta will begin on October 5, 2022. He said residents do not need to buy a new television, but only need additional infrastructure, namely a set-top box. We can get it by spending money from Rp 140,000 to Rp 300,000.

"The set-top box is part of the digital infrastructure, where if indeed our television is still analog. Do not need to buy a new television but you only have a set-top box," he explained, Tuesday (10/4).

He went on to say that the antenna should not be thrown away but needed for a set-top box.

"It's like some kind of decoder. If I have tried it, there are different features in the set-top box. Maybe one can add WiFi. So, the price is different, the digital broadcast is the same. It's just a segment, which one do you want to enjoy," he continued.

He added that the government distributed set-top box assistance specifically for poor households. In Greater Jakarta, there are around 479,000 poor households.

"We have distributed the set-top boxes, almost finished. Only left a week while waiting for the 5th," he stated.
