The Jakarta Provincial Government participated in the Asian Smart City Conference in the 2022 Selangor Smart City And Digital Economy Convention (SDEC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which takes place from October 6 to 7, 2022.

That means, innovation comes from an interaction of collaboration and mediation

SDEC 2022 is a four-day convention with five main elements consisting of Asian Smart City Conference, Top ECM Livestream Festival, Selangor SME Digitalization Conference, Selangor Fashion Accelerator (Demo Day), and Exhibition.

With support from international and local partners, the conference presented regional/city leaders from several countries such as Japan, China, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Malaysia as part of the panel of speakers.

On that occasion, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan became one of the regional leaders who were lined up as speakers in the panel discussion.

In his welcome video, he said that the government as a collaborator has the resources and authority in the form of making a regulatory framework, while the private sector as a co-creator has the best innovations and talents. The collaboration between the two can overcome the challenges and problems they face.

"If the government and the private sector partner up, hopefully, the challenges can be overcome more efficiently," he said, Friday (10/7).

Jakarta Smart City BLUD Head, Yudhistira Nugraha who was present as a speaker representing the Jakarta Government said that innovation does not come from meditation, but interactions with the government, business, and society.

"That means, innovation comes from an interaction of collaboration and mediation between the public and private sectors," he said.

He explained that Smart City is a collaboration between problem owners and problem solvers to find solutions and solve problems together that are user-oriented or residents as users, create prototypes, and develop ecosystems.

"And most importantly, innovation must be able to improve the quality of life and provide economic impact, and sustainability," he closed.
