Jakarta - Oxford Signs MoU on Research and HR Development

The Jakarta administration is collaborating with various parties to realize Jakarta's target of achieving Net Zero Emissions by 2050. It is done with various parties, such as the Transport Studies Unit (TSU), Oxford University, London, England through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for sustainable transportation.

"The collaboration between Transjakarta and the Transport Studies Unit (TSU), Oxford University is made for the development of research and government capacity building (development of human resource capacity), as well as Jakarta BUMDs," expressed Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Monday (5/23).

During his visit to the University of Oxford, the Governor was welcomed by Oxford University's Head for Social Sciences Division Prof. Tim Power.

"We discussed the interesting potential of Southeast Asia in the future to attract the attention of the academic and professional world, including the potential for collaboration with the Center of Southeast Asian Studies," he furthered.

Transjakarta President Director M. Yana Aditya who signed the MoU explained that the development of the quality of Human Resources (HR) is carried out through executive education under the supervision of the School of Geography and the Environment.

"This executive education is a major capacity-building program that can be realized through the annual online executive education program. Besides its fleets, we also hope the human resources to be ready to welcome electric buses as a future fleet," he explained.

While related to research, research on electrification and public transportation programs would be carried out. On a separate agenda, Jakarta was also exploring cooperation with the Blavatnik School of Government, particularly regarding the development of Jakarta's public policies.

As for the information, Transjakarta also signed two other MoUs to help achieve the target of 100% of Transjakarta's fleet using electric buses by 2030, namely the MoU with Switch Mobility related to the development and implementation plan of electric buses and the MoU with Bloomberg New Energy Finance related to market research and data analysis for the electrification program, and clean energy development.
