46 Citizens Charged for Littering

The netted 46 people consist of 10 women and 36 men. We hold the raid in a bid to give deterrent effect

As many as 46 citizens were nabbed from littering by officers in eight sub-districts, West Jakarta, Tuesday (1/27). Those people then herded into the Grogol Petamburan Sport Hall (GOR) to undergo a speedy trial for light offences (tipiring) in accordance with Bylaw No. 3/2013 on Waste Management.

Head of West Jakarta Satpol PP, Kadiman Sitinjak explains in the raid, his side sent 200 joint personnel of Satpol PP, police, and army in the field. Similar raid would be held twice in a month by involving related units.

Meanwhile, Tipiring Judge Chairman, Avrits disclosed according to Article 130 paragraph 1b, Bylaw No. 3/2013 on Waste Management, people who throw waste carelessly will be fined by Rp 100-500 thousand.

"For this time, we just drop a fine of Rp 100 thousand with subsidiary 10 days in jail if they cannot pay it," he explained.

Retno Florita, (35), a Bekasi citizen caught on Jalan S Parman admitted, she was nabbed due to throw a tissue carelessly in Taman Anggrek Mall's pedestrian bridge (JPO).

"I have to pay a fine of Rp 100 thousand. Indeed, I made a mistake," she expressed.
