Jakarta residents who like to throw trash into the river, it would be better if you stop the bad habit immediately. This is because, the city administration threatened citizens cannot process administration if they are caught littering.

The sanction is cannot process administration if you are still littering

Acting Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama instructed sub-district and urban village heads to complicate citizens in processing administration if they throw trash into the river. The reason is, trashes in the river are dominated with household trash.

"That's why, I want every urban village and sub-district head can handle this matter. The sanction is cannot process administration if you are still littering," stressed Basuki, at Manggarai Sluice Gate, South Jakarta, Tuesday (11/18).

He assessed financial penalty about Rp 500 thousand for people who are caught littering as set out in the Bylaw on Trash Management is deemed unoptimal. Thus, there should be a new formula thus littering habit can be prevented. "Actually, we have the bylaw, but still many people throw trash haphazardly," he exclaimed.

When he surveyed the Manggarai Sluice Gate, he accompanied by Head of Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC), T Iskandar seem shocked at the abundance of trash in the Ciliwung River.
