City Commits to Prioritizing Flood, Traffic, and Garbage Handling

It was conveyed by Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono when he gave a speech at the Jakarta DPRD Plenary Meeting with the agenda of responding to the factions' views on the 2023 Draft City Budget (APBD), Wednesday (11/9).
He stated that the commitments to deal with flooding that will be carried out include the gradual revitalization of 16 reservoirs starting in 2023; maintenance of infrastructure and facilities for controlling and developing a flood monitoring system; intensive coordination with the central government for similar treatment programs; increasing river capacity and increasing water holding capacity.

His party was also committed to dealing with congestion in Jakarta, namely improving the public transport service network by increasing routes through the integration of urban transportation.
"The reach of public transportation services until September 2022 is 86 percent and will continue to be increased to the target of 95 percent. Customer growth in 2023 is projected to increase by 51 percent compared to the previous year," he explained.
He assessed that the integrated fare service which includes MRT, LRT, and Transjakarta in Jaklingko is also expected to fulfill the provision of integrated transportation services according to the Jakarta Transportation Master Plan, as well as coordinate with the central government to synchronize the transportation system.
"Aside that, the ETLE system developed by Polda Metro Jaya will be synergized with the Area Traffic Control System (ATCS). The Jakarta Government supports it by providing development grants," he explained.
The Jakarta Government gave authority to two BUMDs, namely Jakpro and Sarana Jaya in the implementation of the ITF through local investment (PMD), including cooperation with investors in terms of the project implementation mechanism.
"We also carry out various strategies, including approaches and equalizing perceptions of anticipating community resistance regarding the construction of ITF facilities," he closed.
