Sekretaris Riverbank to Be Planted with Shady Trees

About 150 trees will be planted along Sekretaris riverbank which passed Kedoya Utara Urban Village, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta. The effort is aimed to prevent people utilizing the land and building illegal huts.

They already utilized the land for almost ten years

Previously, the citizens usually utilized the land to store sand, wood, bamboo, and iron. Others also utilized as business location.

"They already utilized the land for almost ten years," said Abdul Latif, Head of Kedoya Utara Urban Village, Sunday (2/1).

Sekretaris River Cleaned Up

Latif added, trees to be planted are trembesi (rain tree), mahogany, and pucuk merah (syzygium Oleina). From the total amount, 100 trees are provided by urban village, and other 50 trees from West Jakarta Sub-dept. of Park and Cemeteries.

Meanwhile, Head of West Jakarta Park and Cemeteries Sub-dept., Jauhari Arifin, promised to add the trees number that will be planted on Sekretaris riverbank.

"Now we give 50 trees as the beginning, later, all Sekretaris riverbank area will be planted with shady tree," said Arifin.
