150 Joint Personnel Clearing Clogged Channels in Cibubur

It is often a trigger for inundation, as the channels are already clogged

As many as 150 joint personnel are seen participating in a cleanup action on Jalan Telkom, RT 007/014, Cibubur, Ciracas, East Jakarta, Sunday (11/20). The action itself was led by Ciracas Sub-district Head, Yus Wil Rasyid.

That personnel also got assistance from locals to clean the channels on the site. The channels had overflowed during heavy rains last week, thus inundating the roads and residential areas.

Cibubur Urban Village Economy and Development Division Head, Heru Kristianto said the channel has 10 meters long with 60 centimeters wide, and 70 centimeters deep. The location became a source of inundation because there were many blockages.

"It is often a trigger for inundation, as the channels are already clogged," he expressed.

According to him, there was about 70 personnel of PPSU, 20 personnel of Water Resources (SDA) Task Force, 20 personnel of Parks and City Forest Task Force, 20 personnel of Environment Sub-agency and Water Agency UPK, as well as 20 administrators of RT/RW 014 Cibubur Urban Village.

To support it, an Alkon pump unit was also deployed to pump the water in the channels.

"This pump makes it easier to handle clogged drains manually," he stated.
