Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, conducted a sudden inspection (Sidak) of the Ciliwung River's crossing channels, locally known as sodetan project on Jalan Otista Raya and Jalan Kebon Nanas, East Jakarta.
Hopefully, we can reduce inundation on the north side of Jakarta
Sidak was aimed at making sure the crossing channel construction went well after previously being hampered.
He was optimistic that the work was targeted to be completed by April 2023 and was able to anticipate inundation in Jakarta.
Heru Attends Hand Over of Land Certificates at Great Hall“The inundation reduction is around 200 hectares. This function is 60 cubic meters per second reduced. Hopefully, we can reduce inundation on the north side of Jakarta," he expressed, Thursday (12/1).
At the same time, he was alluding to land acquisition, which is one of the obstacles to completing the work. Land acquisition on Jalan Otista Raya had been completed, while we still have homework in the outlet area located in Kebon Nanas.
He assessed that there is still time for the synergy between the Jakarta Provincial Government and Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) in completing land acquisition at outlets due to the physical work process until March 2023.
"What can be released has a length of 1.2 kilometers. I would like to thank the staff who have carried out socialization, and approached the parties, both building owners and land owners," he explained.
In the meantime, Rivers and Coastal Director, Bob Arthur Lombogia uttered that the channel work has touched 92 percent or is almost done.
Based on the contract, it had to be done in August 2023 but could be completed more quickly.
"Our main problem is land acquisition. Fortunately, it can be handled but we have still homework in the outlet area," he stressed.
As for the information, to reduce vulnerability to inundation in Jakarta, one of which was caused by the overflow of the Ciliwung River, the Public Works and Housing Ministry built a tunnel or crossing channel from Ciliwung River to East Flood Canal (KBT).
Last year, the same project was continued for 549 meters. Thus, the total length will be 1.26 kilometers.
It is carried out in order to reduce the discharge of the Ciliwung River by channeling water by 60 cubic meters per second to the KBT.
