The central government through Transportation Ministry will build an airport train track in the near future and is hoped to complete in 2016. It aims to parse traffic congestion in the capital, considering access toward the airport is quite dense with the vehicle.
We hope the construction of the airport train to Manggarai would complete in 2016
"We hope the construction of the airport train to Manggarai would complete in 2016," said Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat, in the office of Transportation Ministry, Tuesday (2/3).
Djarot acknowledged the construction itself does not use the City Budget (APBD). The airport is deemed very important to parse congestion, because the motorist has another alternative than the current airport, namely Damri.
City Needs Assist to Provide Airport Train"It's helpful to parse congestion, because people will be more efficient, faster using the train," he expressed.
According to him, the Transportation Ministry is able to complete the construction within 10 months. Thus far, it has entered preparation phase.
"The project could be completed over 10 months if all was ready," told former Mayor of Blitar.
As known, PT Angkasar Pura will build an airport train and is planned to have 12 kilometers long from Poris Plawad (will be transformed into Batu Ceper Station) until Soekarno-Hatta Airport. While from Batu Ceper Station, there has been train tracks to Kalideres-Rawa Buaya-Kembangan-Pesing-Duri-Tanah Abang-Sudirman-Manggarai Stations.
Later on, the stations would be integrated with all terminals' arrival and airports' departure through integrated buildings.
