Jakarta Organizes Series of Christmas Joy Events

As the local government, this is our effort to maintain inter-religious harmony

The Jakarta Provincial Government is holding a series of Christmas celebration events at various points in the capital.  

Mental and Spiritual Education Bureau Head, Gunas Mahdianto said that the series of Christmas celebrations carried the spirit of tolerance, harmony, security, peace, and joy in Jakarta.

"As the local government, this is our effort to maintain inter-religious harmony and ensure that Christmas celebrations in Jakarta take place safely, conducively, peacefully, and full of joy," he said, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Wednesday (12/21).

To hold it, the Jakarta Government cooperated with Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), religious leaders, religious institutions, communities, and residents.

"To smoothen it, we always coordinate with regional apparatuses organizations (OPDs) that is by visiting churches during Christmas, where the Government will visit them together with Forkopimda, Regional BIN, Religious Ministry Office, Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB), and Representatives of the High Council of Religions," he explained.

According to him, the holding of Christmas events in Jakarta still adhered to PPKM rules. Even, in several churches, there are vaccination sites provided by the Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes). Event supporters have also been vaccinated.

"We urge the community to always obey health protocol rules, such as wearing a mask and being vaccinated. Let's #RayakanKedamaian (celebrate peace) and #SukaCitaNatal (Christmas joy) with #SemganatToleransi (tolerance spirit) in Jakarta," he concluded.

The following is a series of Christmas Celebration events in Jakarta:

1. Christmas Song: December 19 - 23, 2022, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM in Kendal Tunnel, Kota Tua, and Pedestrian Hotel Indonesia

2. Jakarta Lights Festival: December 22, 2022 - January 5, 2023, at Sumenep Promenade Park, Central Jakarta, and History Museum Court, Jakarta Kota Tua

3. Church Visit: December 24, 2022

4. Joint Christmas Celebration in Ancol: January 13, 2023, which is attended by Jakarta ASN and BUMD
