Welcoming New Year 2023, City Has Various Events at Some Points

Welcoming the New Year 2023, the Jakarta Provincial Government is holding various events that are spread to the city level.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation

The peak of the New Year's celebration will be held at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah Cultural Stage which will start December 31 at 8 PM to January 1, 2023, at 1 AM.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) Head, Andhika Permata said that the New Year's Eve Festival would be the first open-air New Year's celebration after several years of not being held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the event performers have been vaccinated and are urged to residents who wish to participate to maintain the health protocols.

His party will hold the event 'Malam Muda-Mudi' (Youngsters Night) with car free night along Jalan MH Thamrin to Jalan Sudirman. Aside that, to enliven the New Year's Eve Festival, festivals will also be held at various city/district levels in six locations:

- Central Jakarta: Thamrin 10

- North Jakarta: Court of North Jakarta Mayor's Office

- West Jakarta: Court of West Jakarta Mayor's Office

- South Jakarta: Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village

- East Jakarta: Old Shanghai

- Seribu Island: Untung Jawa Island

As for the National Monument (Monas) area, it is open to the public and will operate until January 1 at 1 AM, where visitors will be presented with dancing fountains starting at 7:30 PM and colorful light attractions starting at 6 PM. While in Kota Tua area, the event will be enlivened by the performances of the Kota Tua communities.

The tourist destinations participating in welcoming the school holidays and enlivening the New Year celebrations are Ancol Taman Impian which will hold several attractions such as parades, art bazaars, street art performances, live music, and fireworks displays which will also enliven the New Year's celebrations at Ancol Taman Impian.

"To smoothen the event, we also synergize with various parties, such as Polda Metro Jaya, BNPB, Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry (Kemenparekraf), PLN, and between OPDs under the Jakarta Government. Among them is by alerting security and cleaning forces down to the city area level," he expressed.

For the convenience of residents, visitors are encouraged to use public transportation. The operating hours of Transjakarta and MRT will be extended until 2 AM on New Year's Eve.

Residents who bring private vehicles are urged to park in available parking locations to maintain comfort and order during New Year's Eve.

They are also urged to always be vigilant against hydrometeorological disasters which cause high-intensity rains and extreme weather which is predicted to occur at this year's turn. They can continue to monitor the weather forecast on the official BMKG and Jakarta BPBD accounts when they want to do outdoor activities.
