Optimizing Land Use, 11,950 Trees on Jalan Raya Kalimalang Planted

Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono and his staff planted hundreds of trees and thousands of plants in order to intensify reforestation and optimize the five-kilometer public facility land on Jalan Raya Kalimalang, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, Friday (1/6).

In the activities packaged in this 'Jumat Menanam' program, the Acting Governor accompanied by Jasa Tirta II Public Cooperation Director, Imam Santoso; Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) Head, Danang Parikesit; East Jakarta Mayor, M. Anwar and his staff; Jakarta Maritime, Fishery, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency Head, Suharini Eliawati; Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency Acting Head, Afan Adriansyah; and Jakarta Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho.

"This morning, we planted trees along the green belt under the Becakayu toll road on land belonging to the Ministry of Public House and Public Housing (PUPR) managed by Jasa Tirta II and another one belonging to BPJT. We want to show that the location must be cared for. We plant thousands of plants along the area under the toll road," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He also left a message for Bekasi to cooperate with Jakarta, in maintaining the beauty of the area under the Becakayu Toll Road.

"Today, I entrusted it to him, the location in Bekasi must also be like that. I asked the Regent to join in planting trees. His task with us is to maintain the beauty of the environment, thus it is always green, while at the same time maintaining clean water sources in Jakarta," he expressed.

He hoped that it was a routine activity, thus the environment along Kalimalang is getting better, cleaner, and still beautiful.

"I also asked Jasa Tirta and BPJT to cooperate in maintaining this area, which is also used as an urban farming area. And maybe it will be assisted by the East Jakarta administration to be able to manage it," he concluded.

On that occasion, he was symbolically planting Ketapang Kencana Tree. According to him, its roots will grow wide thus it is shady and does not block the construction of water channels.

"This tree can be wide like an umbrella and can grow left and right so it is shadier. Its roots also don't hinder the construction of the channel," he explained.

BPJT Head, Danang Parikesit explained that his party is supporting the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts in the maintenance efforts and greening of the area under Becakayu Toll Road, especially on Jalan Kalimalang.

"Principally, the area under the elevated structure is indeed very important for us to maintain. We're very happy now that we can work together to maintain toll roads and channels. Thus, the assets must also be maintained," he concluded.

As for the information, the total number of trees and plants planted at the location is 11,950, with details the Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency planted 200 trees that consist of 100 Ketapang Kencana trees and 100 Tabebuya trees, as well as 10,000 ornamental plants in the form of 5,000 Gambir Jasmine plants, 5,000 Pilo Kuning plants.

Then 350 Jamaika Guava trees, 100 Angga trees, 1,000 chilies, 100 eggplants, 100 tomatoes, and 100 Kelapa Genjah trees. Then the Jumat Menanam program will be a routine agenda every Friday by planting various types of trees and ornamental plants in some areas of Jakarta.
