Jakarta: Delman Horses in Monas Area Confirmed to Continuously Operate

Delman (horse-drawn buggies)'s existence in the National Monument (Monas) area, Gambir, Central Jakarta is a tourist attraction that is still maintained today. As a means of transportation that has been around for a long time, the Delman has become a tourist attraction that has helped provide jobs and increase income for its coachmen.

They can operate as usual while awaiting the follow-up of this circular letter

Jakarta Culture Agency (Disbud) Head, Iwan Henry Wardhana was responding to the hectic reports currently circulating regarding the ban on Delman operations in Monas area, which is stated in the Central Jakarta Mayor's Circular Letter Number 36/2016.

According to him, the Delman could still operate every weekend. As for the policy of banning Delman operations in Monas, would be studied further.

"They can operate as usual while awaiting the follow-up of this circular letter," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Tuesday (1/10).

He added that the Jakarta administration would conduct training and management of the Delman coachmen in Monas to maintain the cultural and tourism attractiveness of horse carriages in Jakarta.
