This action needs appreciation

It could also minimize fires due to short circuits. Based on reports several months ago, the fires on Jalan Wijaya and Jalan Taman Puring occurred due to a pile of cables.

"We hope the aeral cables cutting can be finished quickly. We also call on the optic cable owners to be more cooperative about this matter," he explained.

Bina Marga Agency Head, Hari Nugroho explained the aeral cable cutting is in accordance with Gubernatorial Regulation No. 106/2019 on Guidelines for Implementing Utility Network Infrastructure. In this regulation, it has been regulated that aerial cables in Jakarta are no longer permitted.

"The cable owner on Jalan Kebon Sirih has long urged to me to be relocated so it doesn't look chaotic because the manhole or box for utilities there already exists," he explained.

He added that the 1.2-kilometer-long aerial cable cutting on Jalan Kebon Sirih would be done in a week. Currently, more than 15 fiber optic poles have been removed.

"Every day, we can remove 400 poles in Jakarta," he stated.
