Satpol PP Collaborates with Panwaslu to Monitor Political Party Banners in Jakarta

Jakarta Satpol PP is about to intensify sweeping against political party banners in public facilities and along protocol roads across city.

There are several rules for installing posters, banners, and political party flags

Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Arifin said the raid against political party banners would involve the General Election Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) regarding the rules for installing legal and illegal posters, banners, nameplates, and flags of political parties.

"There are several rules for installing posters, banners, and political party flags," he said, Wednesday (1/18).

Even his party was committed to overseeing the implementation of the 2024 General Election orderly, peacefully, and safely. Regarding the levy for installing political party attributes, there was already a provision from the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda).

"If these political parties do have sponsors, they will be taxed," he expressed.

Jakarta DPRD Commission A Vice Chairman, Inggard Joshua explained controlling party attributes such as billboards and flags had become the authority of Satpol PP, which is also tasked with maintaining the cleanliness of Jakarta.

"Ahead of the election, there will be a lot of billboards and flags along the road. Hence, there must be sweeping against legal and illegal political party banners," he added.

He urged residents who feel uncomfortable with the existence of banners or flags to immediately report for further action by the authorities.

"We warn the public not to carelessly put up banners or political party flags," he asserted.
