Rainy Season, Fish Supply in Jakarta Declining

Entering rainy season, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BKMG) predicted that the high waves will still happen until the end of March. Surely, it will influenced on the decline of fish supply in the capital up to 20 percent and will back to normal by the end of the upcoming March.  

"It depends on weather, but this has no effect on big boats than small boats

 

According to Jakarta Marine and Agriculture Department, Darjamuni disclosed fish demand in the city is reaching 400 tons per day. From that amount, its supply had declined 20 percent during rainy season. "The current supply is just 300 tons per day due to fishermen can't go to the sea using small boat," he explained, Saturday (21/2).

City to Beware of Fish Supply from Outside Jakarta

 

He predicted the condition would be normal by the end of the upcoming March. "It depends on weather, but this has no effect on big boats than small boats," he told.

 

Darjamuni uttered the import is applied temporarily to meet the fish demand. Considering, the same condition also experienced by other regions. Whereas, its process is being pressed towarding a self-sufficient in fish. But it is still done due to unfavorable weather. "Actually, our target is pressing import. We just do it until the weather goes better," he said. 

 

Based on the BMKG's data, the northern ocean waters of Jakarta's wind generally blows from the south to the northeast with wind speeds ranging between 2-12 knots. Direction and wind speed is from the southern reaches 3 knots.

 

As for the sea wave high is ranging between 0.3-1.5 meters, with cloudy weather.
