JPS Hopes Free Mudik Trips Run Smoothly"Every newcomer is expected to report directly to the local RT/RW. We also urge them to have certainty of guarantees for housing, workplaces, as well as expertise and skills," he expressed.
According to him, the mudik had implications for the potential increase in the number of migrants that multiplied the number of people moving out of Jakarta.
"It is noted that there is a trend of increasing the number of migrants in Jakarta every year, as in the last three years, with details there were 113,814 people in 2020, there were 139,740 people in 2021, and there were 151,752 people in 2022," he expressed.
Based on population data in the second semester of 2022 Net Consolidated Data (DKB), the number of Jakarta residents is 11,317,271 people.
"From the trend of migrants in the last three years, educational backgrounds vary. Those with high school education (SMA) and below have increased, namely 78.04 percent in 2020, 78.25 percent in 2021, and 78.49 percent in 2022. Meanwhile, low income tends to fluctuate, namely 40.93 percent in 2020, then increase to 47.61 percent in 2021, and decrease to 45.64 percent in 2022," he explained.
According to him, this condition needs to be anticipated because it has the potential to increase poverty, stunting, unemployment, and crime problems. In addition, it is predicted that the number of new arrivals after Idul Fitri will increase by 20 to 30 percent or around 36,000-40,000 arrivals.
"Jakarta Provincial Government will put more order into the administration, thus it can map out potential problems and be able to deal with them immediately. Moreover, in the future, Jakarta will become a Global City. For this reason, urban planning in various sector lines, including the population sector, needs to be improved and more orderly in a bid to anticipate impacts that may arise," he stated.
