LRT Jakarta Commissioner, Azas Tigor Nainggolan, invited residents to use public transportation to parse acute traffic jams in Jakarta.

According to him, the main cause of congestion in Jakarta is the high use of motorcycles by the public.

"Residents still haven't switched to using public transportation services," he expressed, Sunday (4/16).

He went on to say that residents did not want to switch to mass public transportation services due to the inaccessibility of its services by the community, thus they had to use other transportation such as online motorcycle taxis first.

Moreover, the current transportation facilities are still limited, thereby reducing passenger comfort.

"Transjakarta buses and the commuter line are still very crowded during rush hour, morning and evening," he explained.

To resolve it, the Jakarta Provincial Government has made several breakthroughs. Among other things, providing modern and sophisticated transportation fleets, as well as improving access to public transportation services.

That ia by building the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B extension route from Velodrome Rawamangun to the final station in front of Pasar Raya and Agung Manggarai Hospital, South Jakarta.

"Building access to the LRT Jakarta to Manggarai will open interconnection access to downtown Jakarta with advanced transportation such as the commutet line, MRT, and Transjakarta.

Hopefully, the integrated access to the mass public transportation service system could make people's trips more effective and efficient.

Effective herebmeans that people do not waste too much time on the road. Efficient means that it does not require high costs to make daily trips.

"Let's support the Jakarta Government's program, thus we can complete the construction of an integration system and access to mass public transportation services to solve Jakarta's traffic jam problem," he stated.
