100,000 Drug Addicts Rehabilitated

The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Jakarta Provincial Government began to rehabilitate as many as 100 thousands of drug addicts in Jakarta. The rehabilitation is done because those are victims of drug dealers and producers.

Drug case nowadays cannot be tolerated anymore

"Drug case nowadays cannot be tolerated anymore," said Head of Jakarta National Narcotics Agency, Ali Johardi, in Silang Monas, Central Jakarta, Saturday (2/28).

Johardi expressed besides law enforcement toward the drug dealer, there must also be rehabilitation as well to the user. The purpose is to minimize the number of demand for drugs in the capital.

"Those drug users should be rehabilitated than jailed," he exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidajat admitted, he was agree with the policy. "Rehabilitation is a noble task, because we want to create a nation that is healthy, intelligent, and productive, instead of a weak nation. Because the weak nation is easily defeated by other nations," he exclaimed.

According to him, besides rehabilitation, fight against drugs is also important. The reason is, besides a place of transit and distribution, yet Jakarta is used as a drug production center.

Relaying on the National Narcotics Agency's data, drug addicts all over Indonesia is reaching 4 million, while in Jakarta reaches 650 people. The number is higher compared to other cities in Indonesia.
