Let's Enjoy Collection of Jakarta Tempo Dulu Photos at Lebaran Betawi

The Jakarta Library and Archives Agency (Dispusip) exhibited photos of Jakarta Tempo Dulu at Lebaran Betawi festival which took place in Monas, Central Jakarta.

People can find out what the history of Monas is like

Based on Beritajakarta.id monitoring, the photos exhibited are the building and area of Jakarta City Hall and Jakarta DPRD Building, as well as Monas and HI Roundabout. Not only that, the Dispusip also displays vitrin in which there are archives or documents related to the development of Monas.

Vitrin 1 displays the Monas development map made on August 21, 1965, while vitrin 2 displays a blueprint for Monas which has a height of 132 meters. Vitrin 3 contains a Decree on Determination of Monas Archive as a static archive, architectural drawings and the current Monas monument.

While in vitrin 4, the script for the construction of Monas is on display. The text contains the composition of the management, tasks, composition of the development committee, and general information related to the monas development project.

"Very interesting. Usually people know Monas in general but here we can know more about its history. There are photos and information along with the archives, it turns out that a committee is also involved in the construction of this Monas," said Adi (35), one of visitors, who was met by beritajakarta.id, Saturday (5/20).

The man who was born and grew in Jakarta assessed that by seeing the Jakarta Tempo Dulu photo exhibition and the archive collection at this event, apart from learning history, it could also foster people's love for Jakarta.

"Hopefully, in the future, it won't only be the history of buildings or areas in the city center, but in the suburbs or other places such as Ommelanden," he added.

Jakarta Dispusip Head, Firmansyah uttered that the photo exhibition, as well as a collection of archives and past documents were to introduce and educate the public about the history of Jakarta.

This exhibition can also be used to give visitors experience regarding the atmosphere of Jakarta in the past in the context of imagination, even though they did not see firsthand the conditions in the field at that time.

"We present photos of Jakarta and this collection of past archives and documents to educate visitors to Lebaran Betawi. Thus, people can find out what the history of Monas is like, this is just Monas and nothing else," he stated.
