Jakarta KONI Holds Meeting to Maximize PON XXI Event

The Jakarta Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) held a working meeting with the theme 'Jakarta Datang, Jakarta Menang' (Jakarta Comes, Jakarta Wins) in the Jakarta KONI Building Hall, Jalan Tanah Abang I, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (6/14).

This qualifying round is the gateway to participation in the forthcoming PON/XXI

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) Secretary, Hendra Eka Permana expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the achievements of Jakarta athletes in the SEA Games event in Cambodia.

They successfully donated 66 medals with details of 22 gold, 20 silver, and 26 bronze.

"Hopefully, this success will be the starting point for the awakening of athletes, especially in Jakarta," he expressed.

As a forum for various kinds of sports, the Jakarta KONI has a role in fostering outstanding athletes on a regular basis. His party supports KONI's program, one of which is realized in the form of grants.

"We will fully support them (KONI)," he said.

He hoped that this grant budget could boost the enthusiasm of the administrators and athletes in snatching the championship again at the upcoming PON XXI/2024 sports event. KONI is also expected to produce the regeneration of outstanding athletes.

"Hopefully, we can work together and increase the spirit of sports," he stressed.

Jakarta KONI Chairperson, Hidayat Humaid explained his party is currently focusing on preparing the team to take part in the qualifying round for the PON/XXI 2024 event in Aceh and North Sumatra.

"This qualifying round is the gateway to participation in the forthcoming PON/XXI. We can't talk about the overall champion if this qualifying round doesn't qualify," he stated.

To achieve the overall champion target, athletes must be able to win 20 percent of the gold medals from the number of competition numbers. Therefore, his party is currently preparing athletes optimally from all sports.

"We and also support from the executive, legislative, and society," he uttered.

As for the information, the meeting was also attended by Central KONI Chairman II, Lt. Gen. TNI (Purn) Soedarmo; Parliamentary Cooperation Body (BKSP) for DPD Chairwoman, Sylviana Murni; and Jakarta DPRD Commission E Chairman, Iman Satria.
