Jakarta KONI: Athletes Need Health Services at PON XX are Handled Optimally

During PON XX, we also bring doctors to help treat sick or injured athletes

The Jakarta Branch of Indonesian Sports Council (KONI) ensures that athletes who need health services at PON XX, Papua are handled properly.

Jakarta KONI Chairman, Hidayat Humaid said, athletes need this health service, including those who experience injuries during competition.

"During PON XX, we also bring doctors to help treat sick or injured athletes. We also coordinate with the hospitals here," he expressed, Friday (10/8).

Regarding Covid-19 issues, swab tests for athletes and coaches were directly handled by the National Sports Week Committee (PB PON).

"Athletes who have been exposed to Covid-19 have now been transferred to the hospital," he explained.

Jakarta Contingent Doctor Coordinator at PON XX, Junaedi added, Junaedi added, until October 7, there were five athletes who were confirmed positive for Covid-19.

"Two of our athletes are undergoing isolation at the Provita Jayapura Hospital and the other three athletes are athletes at the Mimika Hospital. Why different hospitals? Because there are four clusters of match locations, namely, in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency and Merauke Regency," he stated.

According to him, they are still stable or good in condition. Starting yesterday, some have been waiting for the PCR results.

"If they are negative and the sport is finished, they can return to Jakarta," he explained.

He urged all athletes and coaches to remain implement health protocols when not competing.

"Don't be careless, even though you've been vaccinated. Also avoid traveling if there is no urgent need," he stressed.
