In 1968, Syamsudin Bahar as Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry proposed an exhibition to increase the marketing of domestic production.
"This proposal was welcomed by the Governor, Ali Sadikin, who wanted to unite various night market activities which at that time were scattered in several areas to become the Jakarta Fair or Jakarta Raya Fair. Thus, it becomes an annual routine agenda held in commemoration of the city's anniversary," he expressed, at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (6/14) night.
He explained the Jakarta Fair continues to transform into a modern exhibition venue featuring superior domestic and international products. In 2023, it will enter its 54th exhibition.
"This long journey proves consistency in presenting quality multi-product exhibitions, the Jakarta Fair as one of the largest, longest and most comprehensive exhibitions in the Southeast Asia region," he explained.
Therefore, he invited all parties to make it as a forum for strengthening the domestic economy, optimizing the potential of local products and encouraging industrial and national growth.
"We also appreciate and thank PT JIExpo as the organizing partner, sponsor and event supporter, as well as business participants who participated in this year's Jakarta Fair Kemayoran event," he added.
Not long after, the President, Joko Widodo wished Jakarta a happy 469th anniversary.
"By saying Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, tonight I officially open the Jakarta Fair," he stated.
