11 Illegal Buildings Around Kemayoran Train Station Demolished

We would use the land as a parking lot

Around 200 joint personnel of Satpol PP, Marine, and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) have demolished 11 illegal buildings stood atop the Kemayoran Train Station, Jalan Garuda, Gunung Sahari Selatan Urban Village, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Monday (3/9). The land will be used as a parking lot.

The demolishment that started at 10.30 AM went well, even though the chaos between personnel and local citizen happened. At the site, some PLN officers cut off the building's electricity that generally used as a business place.

PT KAI Regional Operation (Daops) I Head, Bambang Setiyo Prayitno said the land as wide as 3,050 square meters is owned by PT KAI. It has been occupied by citizen since 1960.

"We had socialized our demolishment plan before and had prepared compensation. But it was ignored, thus we decided to demolish their homes forcibly," he stressed.

Prayitno continued, the land was used as business place, like photo copy, boarding houses, and food and beverage stalls.

"We would use the land as a parking lot," he exclaimed.

Operational Section for Central Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Maruli Sijabat added those personnel are recruited to support the Jakarta Governor's Regulation on five orders, especially residential raid.
