Heru Releases Dozens of Disabled Athletes Ahead of Peparpenas in Palembang

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono released 22 athletes who will take part in the South Sumatera's 10th National Student Paralympic Week (Peparpenas) in 2023, Friday (7/28).

Acting Governor Holds Gathering with Media Crews Again

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora), Andriansyah conveyed, at this event, his party targets to be able to enter the top seven rankings. After previously having to settle for being ranked 13th in 2017 and ranked 10th in 2019.

"For 2021, it won't be held due to the pandemic. God willing, for this target, we will enter the top seven," he uttered.

He went on to say that the games will start from July 30 to August 5 in Palembang, South Sumatra. The 10th Paralympics is an event for student athletes with disabilities throughout Indonesia to show their talents while looking for superior seeds.

"There are 132 competition numbers from six sports namely athletics, boccia, chess, swimming, table tennis, and badminton," he added.

As for information, the number of the Jakarta Peparpenas contingent who was brought in to make Jakarta proud in Palembang included 53 people, consisting of two coaches, contingent heads, two deputy contingent heads, doctors, 10 officials, 10 coaches, 22 athletes, and five medical teams.
