LH Sub-agency Holds Free Emission Tests on Jalan Pemuda Pulogadung

The East Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency held a free emission test for vehicles on Jalan Pemuda, Kramat Jati Urban Village, Pulogadung, Friday (8/25).

East Jakarta LH Sub-agency Head, Eko Gumelar said today's emission test was aimed to help the public get services and socialize plans for imposing fines for vehicles that fail the emissions test. It is because vehicles that violate or fail the emission test will be subject to fines in accordance with Law Number 22/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation, articles 285 and 286.

"This is the nature of socialization and pre-ticketing. We"re educating the public to immediately undergo a vehicle emission test," he expressed.

He added the main focus of today's emissions tests was checking vehicles that were more than three years old. Because it is usually vulnerable to not passing the emissions test because the vehicle used for long distances, especially especially infrequent routine servicing.

He explained if residents wanted to undergo emission test, they could come to the LH Sub-agency office on Jalan Mandala 5, Cililitan Urban Village, Kramat Jati.

Catur (43), a resident of Jatinegara Kaum Urban Village, Pulogadung admitted that it was very helpful to have this emission test. He knew it when he crossed Jalan Pemuda. That was why, he immediately pulled his vehicle aside and joined the queue.

"Thank God, I see the free emission test and near my house," he admitted.

Moreover, he agreed with fines for vehicles that failed the emission test, to help overcome global warming and air pollution due to vehicle exhaust gases.
