Emissions Test Task Force to Hold Ticketing Sanctions Starting September

The Emission Test Task Force is about to hold raids on vehicles that fail the emission test in Jakarta starting September 1, 2023.

The location has been mapped and everything is ready

The raid itself will involve the personnel from Jakarta Environment Agency (LH), Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) assisted by Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate, and Garrison Command I/Jakarta.

It is law enforcement of Law Number 22/2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation and Gubernatorial Regulation Number 66/2020 on Motor Vehicle Exhaust Emission Tests.

Compliance with LH Agency Employees Not Bringing Private Vehicles Gets Appreciation

Jakarta LH Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto said it is one of the Jakarta Government's efforts to significantly fix air quality.

"After we held our internal emission tests, we are starting to intensively promote it to residents in Jakarta, the vehicle emission can be controlled," he expressed, Thursday (8/24).

His party began deploying the task force at various points in Jakarta on Friday (8/25) as a pre-raids operation.

"The location has been mapped and everything is ready," he explained.

Therefore, all Jakartans were prompted to take part in emission tests at workshops that have emission test kits that meet the standards.

"In Jakarta, there are already 341 car workshops and 108 motorcycle workshops ready to hold this test," he added.

Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate's Code of Conduct Section Chief, Com. Pol. Edi Supriyanto uttered his party would synergize with the Jakarta Government in controlling air pollution.

"We'll all be united in a task force, moreover the police are committed to creating a cleaner environment," he said.

In this task force, the police play a role as law enforcers through fines in controlling vehicles that fail emission tests.

"The police's role in the inspection of emission tests on the road, we back up the LH Agency. While from the police side, it is called the law enforcement side, while from the LH Agency is in terms of infrastructure and equipment," he stated.
