Jakarta Judo Sends 12 Athletes in Popnas XVI

The Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora), fielded six male and six female athletes for Judo sport at the National Student Sports Week (Popnas) XVI.

Hopefully, we can win many gold medals

Jakarta Judo Team Manager, Ratiyono said six male and six female athletes would fight to be the best at the Popnas 2023 in Palembang, South Sumatra.

"Hopefully, they can achieve the best performance. Thus, it can strengthen the Jakarta contingent in winning the title of General Champion," he expressed, Monday (8/28).

He explained that Judo sports competed in 14 numbers yet Jakarta could only participate in 12 numbers.

"Hopefully, we can win many gold medals, so we ask for prayers and support from all Jakarta residents," he explained.

Based on the evaluation results, Jakarta has equal opponents from Bali, West Java, Central Java, and East Java.

"These four provinces usually become Jakarta's competitors. However, this is also good for our athletes to be more motivated to improve skills," he explained.

He appreciated the facilities and infrastructure for Judo sport prepared by the Jakarta Provincial Government

"These facilities at Ragunan PPOP are very good and meet standards. Then, there is also a Judo tryout place in Kelapa Gading," he added.
