Jakarta Wins 26 Gold Medals in Pra Popnas Zone II

Jakarta won the Zone II National Student Sports Week (Popnas) which was held in Lampung, from October 13 to 20, 2022. The contingent managed to become the best with 26 gold medals, followed by West Java with 17 gold and Lampung with five gold medals.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency's Sports Achievement Head, Achmad Dhazimi said that this achievement was achieved through the hard work of athletes, and coaches from the Youth and Sports Agency, Education Agency, KSD Bureau, Social Welfare Bureau, and FIK UNJ.

"At the Popnas 2023 in South Sumatra, we hope that we will increase this synergy to win and grab the overall title," he expressed, Sunday (10/23).

His agency fielded 135 athletes, 11 managers, 57 officials, two doctors, 10 paramedics, 11 coaches, 24 assistant coaches, and 10 physical trainers during the event.

"Pra Popnas competed in eight sports, namely Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Martial Arts, Soccer, Sepak Takraw, Tennis, and Boxing," he uttered.

Here is the complete data on the top five medals in the Pra Popnas Zone II in Lampung:

- Jakarta: 26 gold medals 11 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals (total 40)

- West Java: 17 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals (35 total)

- Lampung: 5 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals (total 31)

- West Kalimantan: 1 gold medal, 5 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals (total 12)

- Bengkulu: 9 silver medals and 12 bronze medals (total 21)
