Vehicles Failing Emissions Tests May Not Enter North Jakarta Mayor's Office

Starting Monday (9/4), operational agency vehicles (KDO) and private vehicles that fail the emission test are prohibited from entering and parking in the North Jakarta Mayor's Office area.

It will be imposed next Monday

North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim expressed the application of this rule is a form of his commitment to overcoming the problem of air pollution and environmental pollution.

"We will prohibit vehicles that fail the emissions test from entering and parking at our office. It will be imposed next Monday, moreover we had previously socialized it," he said, Friday (9/1).

According to him, this policy would also be imposed in all sub-district and urban villages' offices in his area.

"We recommend using public transportation to reduce air pollution," he asserted.

North Jakarta Secretariat General Division Head, Toto Bondan explained officers would check the police plate number of every vehicle that would enter the mayor's office area. Vehicles were allowed to enter if they had passed the e-Emission Test application and would have a sticker attached.

"Officers only check vehicles without stickers to avoid buildup of incoming vehicles," he stressed.
