This is a challenge in itself

Acting Governor Reminds Importance of Solid Foundation towards Indonesia Emas 2045

"We're still faced with the reality that many use the election as a momentum to spread hoaxes. This is a challenge in itself because it can trigger conflict in society," he expressed.

According to him, the current swift flow of information seemed difficult to contain. Everyone has a voice and opinions on social media through their respective devices.

"Like a double-edged knife, the technology can provide great benefits and be a disaster if used by the wrong people. Hoaxes easily spread in the digital space," he explained.

In the election, it could damage the integrity of the election, threaten public confidence in the ongoing process, and even affect the results of the election itself.

"What is more worrying is that political hoaxes trigger polarization in society and threaten the quality of democracy in Indonesia," he explained.

He added it was our collective duty and responsibility to fight hoaxes, especially those spread in the digital space. Therefore, the administration welcomes the seminar being held today.

Hopefully, after taking part in this seminar, participants could become part of a society that is immune to hoaxes and share this knowledge with other people around them.

"Our thanks to all parties who continue to strive to ensure that elections are held honestly, fairly, directly, publicly, freely, and confidentially," he stated.
