Achieving ISO 37001:2016 Certificate, Dharma Jaya Committed to Implementing Anti-Bribery

Perumda Dharma Jaya succeeded in obtaining the ISO 37001:2016 certificate. It is an international standard designed to help organizations build, operate, review, maintain, and improve Anti-Bribery Management Systems (AMS).

There must be a commitment from everyone

ISO 37001 enforces anti-bribery control practices, which in turn increases the likelihood of bribery detection and reduces bribery incidents.

City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono handed over the ISO 37001:2016 certificate to Perumda Dharma Jaya officials at Candi Bentar, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, North Jakarta, Tuesday (10/3).

According to him, the biggest challenge in implementing ISO 37001:2016 is fostering a shared commitment not to commit corruption.

"Combating corruption is not easy. There must be a commitment from everyone. Making that commitment is a big challenge. The first step is to conduct the items in ISO itself. But, we want an evaluation because we won't know if we don't evaluate it," he explained, in the Jakarta administration's press release.

Perumda Dharma Jaya President Director, Raditya Endra Budiman revealed certification was not the endpoint, but rather a starting point in implementing policy regulations that promote an anti-corruption culture. SMAP was also applied to all Dharma Jaya work partners, either vendors or suppliers.

"One of them is clear, management starting from the top and all Peruimda Dharma Jaya personnel from top management down are prohibited from accepting bribes or gratuities. It must be demonstrated concretely, especially from top management. This system will be effective when the ecosystem within it also works together," he explained.

By achieving SMAP, Perumda Dharma Jaya has a more structured corruption prevention system. "If a criminal act of corruption occurs within a corporation, the corporation cannot be held legally responsible, but what is being asked is the person concerned," he added.

Hopefully, this achievement could trigger other Jakarta BUMD agencies or regional government agencies within Jakarta to obtain similar certificates. Thus, financial management is more transparent and accountable, and services to the community can be more optimal.
