Acting Governor Heru Checks JIS Readiness Ahead of U-17 World Cup

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono checked the readiness of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) for the U-17 World Cup, Thursday (10/19). The matches will be held at JIS from November 11, 24 to 25, 2023.

According to him, final checks would be carried out by the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). However, improvements to various angles and supporting facilities had been carried out by the Jakarta Provincial Government together with other government agencies.

On that occasion, he inspected the work on bridges, pedestrian lanes, and green areas.

"Yes, everything has gone well. The Highways Department has completed the toll gates, including the sidewalks as well, and only the bridge remains which is currently under progress by the PUPR Ministry. Next week, I'll come here again to check," he expressed.

He explained JIS improvement progress has reached 90-95 percent. Some of the work was targeted for completion by the end of October. As for the inside, all work was on schedule, including the stands, escalators for entry and exit, and grass on the main field.

Jakarta Parks and City Forests Agency Head, Bayu Meghantara added that several points in JIS were also being reforested. "Around 200 trees have been planted. Then, we will add another 150 trees," he stated.
