Encountering MEA, 971 Trained to Process Agriculture Products

Encountering the 2015 Southeast Asian Nations' Economic Community (MEA), the Central Jakarta Marine, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-Department is providing a training of agriculture products processing to 971 people in Central Jakarta.
Those 971 people are divided into some groups in eight sub-districts. They are Johar with 9 groups (165 people), Cempaka Putih with 6 groups (85 people), Gambir with 13 groups (151) people), Senen with 8 groups (130 people), Kemayoran with 95 people (8 groups), Menteng with 7 groups (76 people), Sawah Besar with 8 groups (125 people), and Tanah Abang with 8 groups (144 people).

It is aimed to educate and train how to process the agriculture product such as ginger ground into a powder and then brewed. In addition, there are also vegetables, semprong (traditional egg rolls) and pletok beer (traditional herbal drink). According to Mulyadi, every sub-district has their own excellent product, like pletok beer from Johar Baru. “Currently, the drink has developed and exported to Malaysia and Singapore,” he expressed.
His party also cooperates with supermarket to promote the products. By so, Jakartans cannot be a a spectator but also be a player when the MEA is imposed.
“We just give a way, thus the product can be sold and increase people's economic,” he disclosed.
