City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono, who was also present at the event, said that the Jakarta Provincial Government is firmly committed to all matters that have an impact on disrupting public order, one of which is related to alcohol.

"We know that liquor is very dangerous for society. Therefore, we must firmly eradicate it. We collaborate with Polda Metro Jaya, Regional Military Command (Kodam), and State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to carry out routine operations. This is the result and we must destroy it," expressed City Secretary accompanied by Head of Jakarta Satpol PP.

Ahead of Christmas and New Year, the same operation would be intensified.

"It will be done periodically, collect liquor in the warehouse and then destroy them within a certain period,' he added, in the Jakarta Government's press release.

Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Arifin explained the basis for establishing regulations regarding the destruction of alcohol had been agreed upon by five district courts in each administrative city. The strategy was carried out through continuous guidance, control, supervision, and law enforcement/orders in five city areas and sub-districts.

"It aims to provide an image to the public that the regional government is continuously trying to protect the public from the distribution of illegal or unlicensed liquor bottles," he explained.

It also aimed to minimize and control unlicensed alcohol in Jakarta and protect the public from the dangers of mixed alcohol which causes death

"Our operation target is sellers of illegal liquor and oplosan (bootleg alcohol).

Based on the results of the raids on illegal/unlicensed liquor carried out by Satpol PP consists of various brands. There were 1,477 bottles seized in Jakarta, consisting of 1,436 bottles from Central Jakarta, 2,601 from North Jakarta, 3,306 from West Jakarta, 1,000 from South Jakarta, and 2,211 from East Jakarta.
