DWP's 24th Anniversary, City Secretary Appreciates DWP's Contribution in Strengthening Role of Women in Indonesia

City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono, attended  the Dharma Wanita Perempuan (DWP)'s 24th Anniversary held at Candi Bentar, Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, North Jakarta, Monday (12/18). In his speech, he appreciated DWP's contribution in strengthening the role of women.

DWP, an important pillar

"DWP's 24th anniversary is a valuable moment to celebrate DWP's big role in strengthening the role of women in Indonesia. Because we know, DWP as an organization for wives of State Civil Servants (ASN) has a very important role in advancing the welfare of its members and their families," he expressed, as quoted by the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release.

He explained the DWP had grown into an independent entity, not tied to any political party, and espousing democratic principles. It is also an organization that is capable of expressing its extraordinary role in strengthening the role of women on the national stage.

"DWP, an important pillar has shown extraordinary dedication in strengthening the role of women in Indonesia, not only in the household, but also as agents of change in society," he explained.

With the care and dedication of its members, DWP has become a role model in making positive contributions to the welfare of families and communities. This organization not only provides support to its members, but also becomes a driving force in forming empowered, wise, and proactive women in various levels of society.

"Hence, they need to continuously motivate and empower their members to always provide optimal contributions in accordance with their potential as part of the values they uphold," he continued.

Jakarta DWP Chairwoman, Endang Joko Agus Setyono said DWP is an independent organization whose aim is to increase the resources of ASN family members who support each other in raising a family, as well as increasing the abilities and knowledge of its members as women who have various roles.

"This year is the right moment to reflect on ourselves, thus in the coming years with increasingly difficult challenges, DWP can become an increasingly solid, advanced, and empowered organization," she explained.

She hoped that Jakarta DWP could make a positive impact through activities that enabled its members to play a strategic role in sustainable development.

"Through the DWP anniversary theme, namely "The Strategic Role of Women in Sustainable Development", hopefully, women will be able to increase awareness of the role they have, thus they can broaden their insight and hone their skills in helping our husbands with their duties, as well as carrying out our role regularly in sustainable development," she hoped.
