Waste Cleaning at Pesanggrahan River Water Gate Intensified

The Jakarta Water Agency's Waste Management Unit (UPS) keeps intensifying cleaning up waste at the Pesanggrahan River Water Gate RW 05, Kedoya Selatan Sub-district, Kebon Jeruk Sub-district, West Jakarta.

Hopefully, it can minimize the overflow of the Pesanggrahan River during heavy rain

West Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head, Achmad Hariadi said every day six personnel of Water Agency UPS are deployed to clear waste at Pesanggrahan Water Gate in turns.

"Pesanggrahan River is prone to waste carried in the streams from its upstream. Moreover, it often rains now. That's why we clean it regularly," he expressed, Friday (1/12).

1,420 Cubic Meters of Waste Transported from Manggarai and Kampung Melayu Gates

According to him, the volume of waste transported every day was from two waste collection points. The waste collected could reach one ton consisting of various types of waste such as plastic waste, tree branches or twigs, and so forth.

Munadi (61), a resident of RT 03/05, Kedoya Selatan Urban Village, appreciated the quick actions of the personnel who cleaned up waste at the Pesanggrahan River Water Gate.

"Hopefully, it can minimize the overflow of the Pesanggrahan River during heavy rain," he hoped.
